What is the roots tree used for?

Summary:

The Roots tree lists all archived root and intermediate root certificates in context of their signature chain. From this tree, you can:

  • Bring Discovered Root Certificates Under Management
  • Manually Add Root and Intermediate Root Certificates
  • Delete Root or Intermediate Root Certificates
  • Download Root Chains
  • Whitelist/Blacklist Root or Intermediate Root Certificates
  • Do Chain building (we look for CA certs in the roots tree before looking for them in the Windows CAPI store whenever we need to build a chain for provisioning, downloading, etc
  • Do CRL Checking
