How to: Change database connection settings in TPP 14.1 to 17.4

NOTE: 18.1 introduces a completely new VCC and new steps.

Summary

The utility used to change the database connection settings depends on the version of Director or Trust Protection Platform.

14.2 or higher:

For 14.2+ the database settings are changed by running the VCC.exe utility (as an administrator) found in C:\Program Files\Venafi\Platform by default.

Please note that if configured, the Default SQL Channel settings for "Log View Database Access" would also need to be updated after the change. This setting can be found in WebAdmin under Logging > Channels.

Earlier Versions:

For Venafi Encryption Director and earlier version of Trust Protection Platform the database settings are changed by running InstallTool.exe (as an administrator) found in C:\Program Files\Venafi\Platform by default.
