The Filter channel allows the Venafi Log Server to block certain events or severity levels from being passed to channels.

To filter the events returned by a Notification rule

1. Create the Filter Channel object in the Channels folder located in the Logging tree.

2. On the Filter Channel object, configure the Target Channel attribute to point to the Channel object where you ultimately want the Notification Rule to output events.

3. In the Notification Rule object, configure the Target Channel attribute to point to the Filter Channel object.

   When the Filter channel is selected as the Notification Rule target channel, the channel receives all events forwarded from the Notification Rule. It then filters the events and passes the filtered events to its own target channel.
