Error: "^ % invalid command detected at '^' marker." is shown while provisioning to Cisco ACE

Applies to

Cisco ACE Provisioning

Symptom

When provisioning to a Cisco ACE the error "^ % invalid command detected at '^' marker." is displayed

Cause

The actual issue is that the credential used to log on to the Cisco ACE appliance must be an administrator because only an administrator has the ability to change contexts. You’ll see in the following what happens when I logged in as a non-administrator and tried to change contexts (or just use changeto with the ACEVIP context it is already in).

Resolution

Change the application credential to be an Administrator.
